Title: Visual Basic.NET Programming for Mainframe Programmers
Description:
This course is designed for experienced mainframe programmers desiring to leverage their existing programming experience as they move into PC-based programming. This is an accelerated course which emphasizes corporate-style development issues, including design standards, visual standards, user-interface standards, class module design, 3-tier client/server issues, program to database interfacing, and more.
This course consists of lecture and extensive hands-on training, as students are guided to develop reusable code samples for use with many VB.NET controls. Students are encouraged to select a real-world PC software requirement for possible use as a class team project, subject to instructor approval. Basic design of one or more screens for the team project, plus development of the actual code to use the screen(s) are accomplished in this course, providing a "jump start" into the students actual work assignment.
This course does not cover:
The instructor has 25 years of mainframe and PC programming experience, 9 years of VB programming and database design experience, is a Microsoft Certified Professional, and is the developer of a successful commercial VB software product.
Length of Course: 10 full days (customized versions of this course may differ in length)

Title: Using Microsoft Access to Analyze DB Data
Description:
This course is designed for programmers and advanced users who wish to be able to extract and analyze data from existing corporate databases, using Microsoft Access as a front-end data manipulation tool with ODBC connection to the database. This course consists of lecture, example, and extensive hands-on training.

The database used for this course will be supplied by the instructor as an MS Access database. Customization of this course to use customers existing database is available; please see the additional information on course customization below.
This course is taught by a team of two instructors; one instructor lectures and demonstrates examples using overhead projection, while the other instructor "floats" among the students to ensure that every single student is able to perform every hands-on example or exercise presented in a timely fashion. This ensures that every student gains valuable and effective hands-on experience actually using the software, and that all students proceed through the course at the same pace.
The lead instructor has 25 years of mainframe and PC programming and database design experience, 9 years of VB programming and Access experience, is a Microsoft Certified Professional, and is the developer of a successful commercial VB software product. The secondary instructor has a minimum of 2 years of computer instructor experience.
