Title: Cadet Records Manager© User Training
Description:
This course is designed for Junior ROTC instructors who will be using Cadet Records Manager© software for their programs record-keeping activities. This course is taught by a team of two instructors; one instructor lectures and demonstrates examples using overhead projection, while the other instructor "floats" among the students to ensure that every single student is able to perform every hands-on example or exercise presented in a timely fashion. This ensures that every student gains valuable and effective hands-on experience actually using the software, and that all students proceed through the course at the same pace.
Students learn to:
- install the software and install patch updates
- enter personnel data for cadets
- enter individual activities, awards, courses, promotions, assignments, demotions, merits and demerits for cadets
- enter supply items issued to individual cadets
- create award and promotion/demotion orders
- customize site information such as SAI and AI names and ranks, class periods, grade levels, LET levels
- add local awards, activities, courses, ranks, assignments and supply items to the database
- manage user security
- print pre-defined reports
- backup, restore, repair, and compact the database
- use mass update features to assign courses, activities, class period, grade level and LET level to multiple cadets at one time
- use mass update features to post awards, promotion/demotions, assignments, course grades to multiple cadets at one time
This course does not cover:
- creating custom queries or reports
- manipulating data from the database in other applications, such as spreadsheets, word processing, mail-merge, etc.
Each instructor will meet one or more of the following criteria:
- has been a Junior ROTC instructor and has used Cadet Records Manager© in their programs
- is one of the developers of this software product and has several years of computer instructor experience
- is a member of the quality assurance and/or support team for this software product and has several years of computer instructor experience
Length of Course: 2 full days
Mandatory Prerequisites:
- Six months experience using a PC with Windows 95 or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or newer
- Good typing ability
Preferred Prerequisites:
- One or more years of experience as a Junior ROTC instructor
Minimum/Maximum number of students per class: 5/15
Locations: On-site at customer facilities

Customer Facility Requirements:
- One PC for the lead instructor, plus one PC per student, each with the following software already installed:
- Windows 95 or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or newer
- Microsoft Access version 2.0 or newer
- LCD palette projection equipment which is interfaced to project instructors PC screen for viewing by students during lecture
- Networked printer which can be utilized by student and instructor PCs
